Summer camp 2023

Kinderland Amstelveen

Every year, in weeks 4 and 5 of the summer holidays, Kinderland Amstelveen organises a summer camp. The organisation deploys around 130 volunteers to entertain and supervise about 700 children with age-appropriate activities. The programme includes swimming, crafts, sand art and water games on-site, as well as external activities such as laser tag, a trampoline park, canoeing, polder sports and overnight stays. The closing day is dedicated to trips to theme parks for the older groups.

The challenge

The external activities required multiple buses, leading to complex logistics and rising costs each year. The organisation spent a lot of time searching for and communicating with various bus companies, whose quality and reliability were hard to assess.

How Bookabus helped

Bookabus took the entire transport planning off their hands. By working with many bus companies on a daily basis, Bookabus was able to negotiate better prices than the organisation could achieve on its own. Besides fantastic service, Bookabus's bus prices were significantly lower than those of directly contacted bus companies.

The result

All camp activities ran smoothly thanks to the close collaboration with Bookabus. The children enjoyed successful weeks full of activities. As a surprise, Bookabus arranged transport via an Almere City FC bus for a trip to the NEMO museum in Amsterdam — to the great delight of all participants.
